Applying for a funded workshop
As a community interest company, we are passionate about the environment. We aim to ensure that our workshops and clubs are accessible by the whole community. We don’t want cost to be a barrier to inspiring a love of bees and the environment.
BIEE are constantly striving to access grants. These allow us to offer low or no-cost (grant-funded) activities for those in need. If your school would like to organise an activity but are unable to allocate any budget without additional funding, use the form below. Registering your interest will help us to gauge demand, apply for more grants and contact you when funds are available.
Allocating the grant-funded places
Our aim is to reach out to as many schools in and around Leeds as possible. So, schools with the greatest need are our target for grant-funded places. We will use two key criteria to rank the applications:
- Size of the Pupil Premium grant awarded: With those achieving higher grants more likely to receive a funded place.
- Schools located in an area of deprivation: Use this mapping tool to check if your school is in an area of deprivation. It uses the latest data from the Index of Multiple Deprivation. Priority is given to schools in more deprived areas.
- Furthermore, priority will be given to schools within the Leeds postcode area.
- Applications from schools outside Leeds will be considered on a case by case basis
Help with Funding Activities for Schools
Thank you for your interest in our Bee Inspired Eco Education workshops! Please use this form if your school needs help to fund BIEE workshops.
Is there help with funding other activities?
We run other activities for schools as well as the grant-funded workshops. After-school clubs can be partly funded by parents to ease the burden on school budgets. We aim to offer some free places for those children eligible for free school meals. This is possible where there are enough paying pupils to support this. Please drop us a line on our contact page to find out more.
What funding have you secured?
In 2025, Bee Inspired Eco Education secured funding to run 10 half-day workshops in schools around Leeds. The funding was provided by Climate Action Leeds, in conjunction with the Leeds Community Foundation. Workshops took place between March and July 2025 and were a great success. We are currently applying for more grants… watch this space!
