Workshop Details

We’re buzzing that you are interested in a BIEE workshop!

We look forward to working with you and delivering a fantastic 3 hour Bee Immersed Eco Education Workshop. Please fill in this short form so we can get an idea of your requirements.

Workshop format

You have the option of three different workshop formats for your 3hr session.

Option A

This is suitable for a single year group (any from Y1 – Y6) consisting of 2 classes (approximately 60 children in total). If you have more than 2 classes in the year group please let us know and we will try to accommodate. If you are a small school with a single class intake, this can be different year groups. More about Option A.

Option B

A whole school assembly on the Importance of bees and pollinators followed by 2 x 60 minute sessions in 2 nominated classrooms with an activity carousel as detailed in Option A. This can be different year groups, for example if you are a small school with a single class intake.

Option C

A small group (maximum 30 pupils) immersive session suitable as a reward activity or calmer session for a SEND group. More time will be spent observing and learning about bees in the observation hive. Furthermore, there will be a more focused activity session including honey tasting.

Curriculum topics

Our workshops cover some of the key curriculum, but if you have a specific topic you class is learning we can help to support that. Please let us know if there is a particular focus.

To bee or not to bee?

We will aim to bring a live bee observation hive along to the workshop. An observation hive has no flying bees and a full risk assessment will be provided in due course.

However, sometimes the bees don’t play according to plans and we may need to substitute the observation hive with a picture-based demonstration hive.

If you would prefer NOT to have the live-bee feature and instead would PREFER a picture-based demo hive please tick this box:

Extra details for Option A

Workshop time split evenly between 2 classes (85 mins each):
  • 20 minute interactive presentation on the importance of bees and pollinators
  • 60 minute Activity carousel – small groups of 6 children rotating to spend time looking in detail at honeybees in a live bee observation hive/making seed balls/adding to a whole class themed collage (for school to keep and display) and honey tasting.
  • 5 minutes – simple steps to Save the Bees!
