You can arrange to come and spend time as a small group in our BIEE Experience Apiary, located in CATCH Leeds. We offer a unique small group experiences for up to 6 people to spend a few hours learning about bees and getting hands on with some of our friendly honeybee colony located in North Leeds.

This experience is suitable for ages 8 and above and is recommended for groups of 2-6 people.

Come and have an experience with a difference! Enjoy 2 hours of fun and fascination at our Experience Apiary. You’ll be buzzing after this unique opportunity to get up close and personal with our sweet little friends.

Find out all their quirks and how to read their body language. Learn the basics about what it takes to be a beekeeper, and then suit up and take a peek into their hive. After this intense new experience, it is only right to finish up with a taste of the sweet stuff!

Perfect for couples, friends, a unique family experience or team bonding. Bookings can be made throughout the summer months (May to September) when the bees are most active.

Venue

We are really excited about our new BIEE Experience Apiary that is located in CATCH, Leeds, LS8 3QY. As well as a safe location to house the beehive with plenty of space to get a hands-on experience with the bees, we have have a room to learn inside and do all the fun activities. It was featured on BBC Look North when it first opened and was made possible due to great support from CATCH and funding from Miller Homes for the equipment.

Visitors are welcome to relax in the Peace room at CATCH, where the cafe is open 11am-2pm.

    Having watched an article on ‘Look North, Leeds‘ regarding the impact of bees in our climate. I
    decided to make contact to arrange a session for my older grandchildren who have a fear of
    bees/insects, in the hopes it would give them an insight as to the importance of creatures, bees
    especially, in this world.

    The grandchildren did participate in the session, albeit at a distance, and remained calm, unlike previous experiences, it was very much a topic of discussion later that day.

    Looking forward, as they get older, this experience will hopefully make them aware of the important role bees play in our everyday life. Thank you for the memorable day.
