Who We are

Bee Inspired Eco Education is a not-for-profit Community Interest Company on a mission to inspire the young people of Leeds to connect with and care for our vital pollinators—and the planet we all depend on.

We help Leeds businesses deliver meaningful ESG, provide employee wellbeing experiences and develop community engagement opportunities.

What we do

Often incorporating a live honeybee colony in an observation hive, we run inclusive and engaging workshops, activities and events to connect with young people, their families and local communities.

We are particularly focused on providing opportunities for those from inner city Leeds areas, under-represented and disadvantaged backgrounds who may not have easy access to green spaces.

Our action packed, hands-on workshops not only educate about the importance of biodiversity and the essential work of our pollinators but empower participants with simple actions to make a difference. This boosts mental health and fosters a sense of shared responsibility for improving the environment for all creatures great and small!

What we can offer your organisation

BIEE can bring the observation hive and a range of wellness activities for your staff to enjoy. Everything can be tailored to your needs — whether that’s an informal drop-in over a few hours or a more structured team experience. It’s a meaningful way to invest in employee wellbeing, support your ESG commitments and give your team a community engagement story to be proud of.

Employee Wellness Experiences

Bee watching — there is something quite fascinating about watching the inner workings of a beehive. Our glass sided observation hive lets your employees see the bees at work without disturbing them — spotting the queen laying an egg and looking out for the waggle dance that they use to communicate.
Candle rolling — a tactile, mindful break that promotes creativity in the workplace. Employees craft their own beeswax candle to take home.
Bee hotels — enhance urban biodiversity, building habitats for wild pollinators, which employees can install in your office grounds or their gardens at home.
Off-site team building — reward your team with something truly different. We can accommodate teams of 6-8 for a beekeeping experience at our apiary in CATCH community hub.

Invest in the Local Community

The schools and community groups who benefit most from our work are often the least able to pay for it. We rely on funding, grants and donations to reach those who need us most — and right now, demand is outpacing what we can deliver. We have a number of Leeds schools in areas of high deprivation who are on our waiting list for a funded workshop.

Could your organisation help?

£250 will cover the costs of a Bee Immersed Eco Education workshop for a local school
£432 funds a 6 week Buzz-Like-A -Bee club for 12 local children
£1000 would allow us to deliver 5 community hub events for local families over the summer holidays

We are working to inspire green initiatives across Leeds, and with your support we can reach a wider section of the community. We would love to discuss how your organisation can make a meaningful impact.

Volunteering days

Beyond funding, there are also opportunities for your team to get involved directly. Schools and community gardens across Leeds are establishing wildlife-friendly zones in their grounds, and we can help coordinate volunteering days to make it happen.

A typical volunteering day might involve helping to plant pollinator-friendly wildflowers, build raised planters, or install bee hotels and bug habitats alongside pupils and community members. We can combine this with workshop events to really make a buzz. It’s hands-on, rewarding and a great way to build genuine lasting connections between your organisation and the local community.

Thank you for a memorable day
Having watched an article on ‘Look North, Leeds‘ regarding the impact of bees in our climate. I
decided to make contact to arrange a session for my older grandchildren who have a fear of
bees/insects, in the hopes it would give them an insight as to the importance of creatures, bees
especially, in this world.

The grandchildren did participate in the session, albeit at a distance, and remained calm, unlike previous experiences, it was very much a topic of discussion later that day.

Looking forward, as they get older, this experience will hopefully make them aware of the important role bees play in our everyday life. Thank you for the memorable day.
